Discouraged?

I have a quote taped to my desk where I do all my counseling and computer work. There are actually several quotes and various bible verses that I put there to remind me of my purpose here on earth when I feel down.

This particular quote I am thinking of goes like this- " Don’t feel bad if people only remember you when they need you. Feel privileged that you are like a candle that comes to their mind when there is darkness”

Can you relate?

Most of us can I’m sure. Friends or family who are not available to help you move, lend a shoulder to cry on or offer an encouraging word. Now I know that our society values being and staying busy, and even the bible supports not sitting idle when there is work needing to be done, but I am referring to something different.

I have experienced many seasons where I hope to look up to see the kind and understanding face of a friend only to feel that I am alone.

It is in those times, when we feel alone and vulnerable to the darkness, that God meets us where we are.

God met me this morning.

As I sat in the peaceful solitude of the early morning, before any work needed my attention and as my teens still slept, I pondered this funny season we are in. There are many people right now who ache with loneliness. They long to know that they haven't been forgotten or cast aside - a phone call, email, text or a surprise on their doorstep.

If you are one of those people right now, let me give you a bible verse, an encouraging word from God.

“For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:9-10

You, as a child of God, trusting in Christ’s blood, are important to the Almighty God. He values you! He longs to comfort and encourage your weather-beaten heart with his love, care, and compassion. He will strengthen you, help you and hold you. He is the victorious King, the loving Father, and the gentle Shepherd. Let him meet you where you are. Look to the One who always sees you, always cares for you and always listens to you.

People may let you down but he never will!
