I go Confidently

I am an early riser.

Up at 5 am, coffee and Bible in hand I find my favorite comfy chair and read while the light is dawning in the eastern sky. I usually get a chapter read, and then with another coffee I will think about it and pray for the people I love and those who have confided struggles to me.

This morning, however, I opened my Bible to Psalm 46 and never got past verse 1. "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble."

As I head into my day, with questions and uncertainties swirling in my mind, I have to go get groceries for my family - this type of outing as we all know can be stressful. Not only because of social distancing, but also because of the fact that the shelves are often empty of the things I regularly buy.

It can be easy to begin to worry the "what if's." This morning though, I am going to repeat to myself: "God is our refuge and strength" When I first find my refuge in him, I can then also find my strength. I don't have to have all the answers or a ton of emotional strength to face this day with its unique set of challenges. God will supply my need perfectly, because the second part of the verse says, "always ready to help in times of trouble"

This time we are facing is certainly a time of trouble - but my naturally anxious heart can find security, calm, and strength while resting in the love of my Heavenly Father. I will have the exact measure of strength I need to successfully accomplish what I need to today if I remember to rest in Him and look to Him for wisdom.

I hope as you go out into your day you can confidently repeat Psalm 46:1 with me: "God is my refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble."

Go. With a spring in your step and a smile on your face! God is with us.
